Ms. Susan Sherfield opened the morning segment with “I’m not crazy, I’m just NOT You.”  This segment was the introduction to psychological typing and how to use to this understanding of type in the workplace.  With providing an overview of these characteristics, helps us understand how to work through conflicts of different types within the workplace. First identifying our own type helped us better equip to work with others.

The second session was “Working at the Speed of Life”  - So many of us feel that there are just not enough hours in a day to get everything done and the stress can be damaging to our health, work quality, and relationships. This session presented tips for prioritization and avoiding procrastination to help us focus, maximize productivity, and still have time for over selves and important people in our lives.

HUD Update – “Disaster Planning and Coordination.”

Is Your Agency Prepared? While not required by HUD, every public housing agency is highly encouraged to have a plan in place. These should be “living documents” that can be modified and/or adjusted as necessary. Each organization must consider their unique situation.

Does the plan identify the roles and responsibilities of agency staff during each emergency? These items should be considered during such disaster training.
  • Do you have emergency staffing procedures?
  • Does your plan include Contact/Collaboration with Local Emergency Management Entities?
  • Does you plan identify sheltering locations or consider sheltering-in-place?
  • Is your staff trained in emergency response procedures?
  • Lesson Learned – Post Your Disaster Plan.
Also in Attendance was Art Wells, Multifamily Director, New Orleans HUD Office and Ron Cooper, Head of Asset Management, New Orleans HUD Office.

Mr. Bill-Walter Leger, State Representative, District 91, New Orleans, Louisiana explained the details of the new housing consolidation bill.
